Live Updates - Islanders vs. Jets

7:00 p.m. - Nassau Coliseum - Uniondale, NY

First trip to Long Island for the Jets, who won the first contest between the two teams 5-4 in overtime on Jan. 27. Evgeni Nabokov and Ondrej Pavelec are your goalies tonight.

Anders Lee in the lineup tonight for his NHL debut. Lee will play wing on a line with Casey Cizikas and Matt Martin. Marty Reasoner and Eric Boulton are scratched.

1st Period
5:14: Shots are 7-2 Islanders already, with most of the chances coming from distance. Pavelec is one of the most worked goalies in the NHL, playing in his 34th game of the season.

12:05: Matt Carkner will sit two minutes for interference. First PP of the night for either team.

14:05: Carkner springs out of the box, and not a moment too soon. Lots of O-zone time for WPG on the power play. Shots: NYI 8 WPG 6.

16:13: Anders Lee will remember tonight. He just skated down the left wing boards and wristed on off the bar and in behind Pavelec. First NHL game. First NHL goal. I believe that one went through Toby Enstrom's legs on its way in, because Pavelec didn't have an answer. Casey Cizikas immediately went over and grabbed the puck to bring back to the bench. 1-0 Islanders.

18:06: Paul Postma evens things up with his second of the season. He fought through a defender, picked up a puck that was laying loose in front of Poulin and ripped it top shelf, glove-side.

End 1st: NYI 1 WPG 1. Shots: NYI 12 WPG 9.

2nd Period
2:26: Patrice Cormier and Matt Carkner take matching minors for unsportsmanlike conduct. We'll skate 4-on-4 for two minutes.

4:30: That's over. It felt like an Islanders power play. Shots: NYI 17 WPG 9. First five shots of the period go to the home team.

6:02: Chris Thorburn dishes from the left circle across to Postma, who nets his second of the game on a tap-in. The rookie defenseman had one career goal in 29 games before tonight. 2-1 Winnipeg.

8:20: Elsewhere...Congratulations to Ryan Strome on his first professional goal tonight for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers against the Worcester Sharks. Strom was the fifth overall pick of the Islanders in 2011.

9:56: Colin McDonald scores on a weird bounce, and it's 2-2. Mark Streit threw the puck toward the net, and Michael Grabner angled it from the slot down low to McDonald. He banked it off the inside of Pavelec's pads and across the line.

16:30: Still 2-2. Shots: NYI 28 WPG 14.

18:01: I thought the referee had swallowed his whistle, because he waited a long time to call it, but Evander Kane is going off for hooking. First power play of the game for the Isles.

19:32: Frans Nielsen gives the Islanders the go-ahead goal; 3-2. Capuano loves those goals in the final 60 of a period. Mark Streit blasted one from the point that hit traffic and bounced to Nielsen on the right side, who cranked it top shelf over a laid out Pavelec. Bailey gets the primary helper.

End 2nd: NYI 3 WPG 2. Shots: NYI 30 WPG 17.

3rd Period
13:30:  First stoppage of play in a long, long time. Puck was hemmed in the Jets zone for most of that time. Still 3-2. A couple of deflections in front by Tavares were the best chances. Shots: NYI 35 WPG 20.

18:00: 2-on-1 chance for John Tavares and Matt Moulson winds up in the back of the net and it's 4-2 Islanders. Tavares had the puck on the right side and dished across after Toby Enstrom attacked the puck. Moulson buried the shot quicker than Pavelec could slide to his right. Brad Boyes with the secondary helper.
