Michael Grabner returns from his suspension, and will replace Brock Nelson in the lineup. Eric Boulton comes in for Colin McDonald. Kevin Poulin will make his second start between the pipes.

1st Period
4:10: Andrew MacDonald gets whistled for hooking on Sean Couturier, who had gotten around the corner. First PP of the night.

4:30: Flyers take a 1-0 lead. Vincent Lecavalier with a one-time setup from the right circle. He's getting credit for the goal, although it hit some traffic in front of Kevin Poulin. Mark Streit and Claude Giroux with the helpers.

5:30: Jakub Voracek with his first of the year. He won a race to the puck in the corner of the Isles zone, skated around a defender and beat Poulin with a forehand. 2-0 Flyers.

6:43: Eric Boulton and Jay Rosehill go head-to-head in the neutral zone. Took Boulton a while to get going, but at the end of the lengthy bout, it was pretty even. Both players landed several shots, but missed on a haymaker or two. Second fight of the season for the Islanders, and Boulton has both of them.

10:16: Kyle Okposo gets space near the blue line, drifts toward the middle, and lets one fly through traffic. Not sure if it hit anything on its way, but it finds twine to make the score 2-1. Thomas Hickey with a between-the-legs pass for the primary, and John Tavares with the secondary helper. Points in 10 straight games now for Tavares; two shy of his career best.

13:13: Poulin looks to be settling down, as he just stopped Lecavalier on a one-timer from the high slot. Shots: NYI 10 PHI 6.

16:38: Matt Martin turns the corner on his man and gets a great chance from the right side, but Steve Mason makes a pad save.

18:13: A great chance winds up in the back of the Islanders net, as Lecavalier nets his second. He got behind the Isles D, took a centering feed from Michael Raffl and took a backhand one-timer on goal. The first shot was stopped, but Lecavalier swatted the rebound out of the air to make it 3-1. Streit with the second assist.

End 1st: PHI 3 NYI 1. Shots: NYI 15 PHI 11.

2nd Period
4:26: Zac Rinaldo throws a late hit on Travis Hamonic, and gets called for charging. Things got a little heated after the exchange, with Hamonic taking on Rinaldo and another Flyer. The net result is an Islanders first power play of the night.

6:30: Isles are 0-for-1 after a fairly uneventful power play.

9:21: Michael Grabner gets called for slashing, and Philadelphia goes back to the power play.

10:30: Awesome short-handed goal scored by Frans Nielsen on a 2-on-1. Peter Regin with the pass through the defender to Nielsen, who had to go to his backhand, but put some momentum behind it to beat Mason. Flyers lead cut to 3-2.

14:17: Rinaldo takes a puck to the face in the Islanders zone and heads down the tunnel.

End 2nd: PHI 3 NYI 2. Shots: NYI 20 PHI 23.

3rd Period
3:10: Rinaldo goes away for hi-sticking, and the Islanders will get a chance to tie the contest.

8:53: Broken play in transition leads to Lecavalier's third goal of the night. Thomas Hickey couldn't beat two Flyers in a puck battle at the blue line, and the play came down the other way. Lecavalier dove to push a pass to a teammate, but after a blocked shot, it wound up back on his stick for a wide open shot. 4-2 Flyers. Shots: NYI 25 PHI 27..

13:05: Isles hole to dig out of just got a little deeper, as Radek Martinek takes a tripping penalty.

15:25: Islanders are still within two, and Nicklas Grossmann is in the box for slashing Okposo. 4:35 remaining.

16:50: Bouchard with a great looking one-touch pass to set up Okposo, but he hits the post. Loudly.

17:27: Philadelphia is back at even strength, and the puck just got cleared from the zone.

18:28: Empty-netter from center ice by Matt Read makes it 5-2.
