New York Islanders at Pittsburgh Penguins

Radek Martinek is scheduled to make his season debut in place of Brian Strait, who is out with an upper-body injury.

1st Period
7:07: Andrew MacDonald goes away for slashing on Jussi Jokinen, and Pittsburgh earns the first power play of the night.

8:01: Evgeni Nabokov makes a huge save sliding to his left of a Sidney Crosby one-timer.

8:19: Matt Niskanen gets called for a hit from behind on Kyle Okposo, ad the Islanders will get a chance at the man advantage.

10:14: Matt Moulson scores on a second or third chance midway through the power play to put the Isles up 1-0. John Tavares redirected a centering feed from Frans Nielsen, and Moulson took care of the rebound in front.

13:25: Just as a Penguins power play was ending, they even the score at 1-1. Brandon Sutter pulled up and fired from the top of the left circle, and Jokinen swung at the rebound in the slot to knock it in.

16:16: Matt Carkner will go to the box for hooking. Pens are 1-for-2 on the job.

19:28: The parade to the Isles penalty box continues. Andrew MacDonald will sit again, this time for roughing.

End 1st: NYI 1 PIT 1. Shots: NYI 8 PIT 14. Pens will have a 1:28 power play to start the second period.

2nd Period
1:30: MacDonald flies out of the box, and the Penguins are 0-for-4 on the man advantage.

5:59: Another 2-on-1 goal against the Islanders. This time it's Crosby, who was flanked by Chris Kunitz. Crosby elected to shoot, and beat Nabokov from the right side to make it 2-1 Pittsburgh.

13:21: Moulson penalized for hooking on Evgeni Malkin. Penguins are 0-for-4 on the man advantage so far.

16:25: Travis Hamonic fires one from the top of the zone, and Pittsburgh goalie Jeff Zatkoff has some trouble with the rebound. The netminder finally pushes to his left to cover up the loose puck.

17:40: Nielsen with the best Islanders chance of the period in transition from Pierre-Marc Bouchard, but Zatkoff gets across to absorb the shot from the left side.

End 2nd: PIT 2 NYI 1. Shots: NYI 18 PIT 34.

3rd Period
4:50: Nabokov denies Crosby on a breakaway, despite the Penguins captain trying to get him off-balance. Kunitz with a long pass from the d-zone to spring Crosby.

11:23: Josh Bailey weaves through the zone and earns a wraparound opportunity, but Zatkoff gets to his post in time. Still 2-1 Penguins.

12:46: Nielsen scores on a redirection to tie the game at 2-2 as the puck flutters over Zatkoff. Thomas Hickey with the shot-pass from the left point. Radek Martinek is going to get the secondary assist.

13:02: 16 seconds later, Deryk Engelland scores while attacking the net. Joe Vitale took the line and made a pass from the goal line to the front of the net. First of the season for Engelland makes it 3-2.

13:55: Pierre-Marc Bouchard nets his first as an Islander following a failed clearing attempt. . Martinek with a great no-look feed at the point to Bouchard, who deked, opening up Zatkoff's five hole, tying the game at 3-3.

18:20: Unreal second third fourth effort by Josh Bailey to put the Isles up 4-3. He led a 2-on-1, got the puck to Kyle Okposo, and got it back for a one-timer in the slot. Zatkoff made his best save of the night, but the puck came back out to Nielsen. Frans zinged it to Bailey in front, who was stopped again but lunged at the puck with one hand on the stick for the go-ahead goal
