Live Updates - Islanders at Panthers

7:30 p.m. - BB&T Center - Sunrise, FL

Islanders begin tonight with 27 points, three behind Winnipeg for eighth place in the East. Florida sits in 15th in the Conference with 20 points.

Peter Ruttgaizer may have already dropped the line of the night. He just said on the broadcast that the BB&T Center has changed names more times than John Mellencamp (It used to be called BankAtlantic Center, National Car Rental Center and Office Depot Center). Alright Howie and Butch -- the bar has been set.

1st Period
2:24: Islanders taking an early first penalty, Marty Reasoner called for tripping.

4:24: Isles kill it off, despite not being able to get a clear for the first 1:17. Nabokov with a big save on Jonathan Huberdeau's wraparound.

13:36: Eric Boulton and George Parros drop the gloves in the Islanders zone. Started out in Parros' favor but Boulton finished strong. Good to see Parros still rockin the trademark stache.

15:26: Kyle Okposo puts the Islanders up 1-0. Frans Nielsen with a great vision pass from the goal line to Okposo , who was coming in from up high. The one-timer beat Scott Clemmensen.

17:59: A shot from the top of the zone by Radek Martinek winds up in the back of the net, and it's 2-0. That went through a lot of traffic, and almost had to have hit something on the way in. Mark Streit and Reasoner get the helpers.

End 1st: NYI 2 FLA 0. Shots: NYI 9 FLA 9.

2nd Period
0:33: Isles up 3-0 on a puck that snuck in off Tomas Kopecky. Tavares fed Boyes in transition, and Boyes' pass for Moulson hit Kopecky's skate and crept over the goal line. Three-game goal streak for Boyes. Eighth of the season, matching his total from a year ago.

8:42: Nabokov just made a glove save on Jack Skille look easy. Veteran play by Nabby to keep the glove in front while he was in the splits to cut the shooting angle. Still 3-0.

15:34: Stoppage in play following a Nabokov save on Mike Santorelli. Most of the play has been in the Panthers zone lately. Shots: NYI 15 FLA 14.

15:34: Looking at the score sheet...Islanders players have eight points (three goals, five assists). Eight different players have one point apiece - no multi-point games for anyone as of yet.

17:00: Jack SKille gets a lucky bounce in the New York zone and backhands one off the post to Nabokov's right. Still 3-0 Isles.

19:45: Santorelli hits the post to Nabokov's left on a wrist shot.

End 2nd: NYI 3 FLA 0. Shots: NYI 15 FLA 15.

3rd Period
5:09: The Panthers hack away at a puck in front, and TJ Brennan may be credited with a goal to cut the lead to 3-1. Santorelli should get the assist for taking the original shot. Brennan was acquired yesterday from Buffalo.

5:43: Marcel Goc scores, and just like that it's 3-2 with goals 34 seconds apart. Florida cycles and the puck gets across three defenders to Goc, who goes top shelf. Nabokov took himself out of the play by waving his stick at Tomas Fleischmann, who had the puck behind the cage. Timeout Islanders.

6:52: Santorelli ties it at 3-3. Skille takes the line, moves around a defenseman and shoots the puck twice off Nabokov. Third chance comes out at the other side and Santorelli taps one in. New York has allowed three goals in 1:43.

11:25: Shots were 9 apiece in the first, 6 apiece in the second, but Florida with a 12-7 edge in shots during the third so far.

12:55: Islanders get back on top 4-3 with Casey Cizikas' fourth goal of the season. Colin McDonald with a beautiful feed from behind the goal to Cizikas on the left side for a one-timer. Genesis of that goal was forechecking by all three forwards, including Keith Aucoin, who will get a secondary assist.

18:27: Still 4-3 Isles. Clemmensen out for an extra attacker. Timeout Florida, with an upcoming draw in the Islanders zone.
