by Staff Writer / New York Islanders

The New York Islanders have made it to the postseason once again, and MTA Long Island Rail Road is providing extra service to Barclays Center in Brooklyn to ensure you don’t miss any of the action. As the Islanders host the Panthers on Sunday, April 17, Wednesday, April 20, and Sunday, April 24 (if necessary) – LIRR will continue to provide extra trains heading to hockey games at Barclays Center.

On Sunday, April 17, there will be three extra trains to accommodate fans heading to the first game of the playoffs at 8 p.m. at Barclays Center as well as four extra trains to get fans back home after the game. The Islanders’ move to Barclays Center this season has added legions of hockey fans to the Brooklyn-bound ridership, including Islanders’ team members, themselves, spotted making the commute to the LIRR’s Atlantic Terminal located right across the street from the new arena.

Westbound – Pre-Game Service

Four westbound trains will originate at Babylon and one westbound train will originate at Ronkonkoma. Trains will be timed to arrive roughly 30 to 90 minutes before the puck drops so fans will have plenty of time to get to their seats.

An additional Babylon service opportunity will be available with a transfer at Jamaica. One train to Ronkonkoma will depart Atlantic Terminal beginning at 20 minutes after the end of the game and will stop at Jamaica, New Hyde Park, then make all stops to Ronkonkoma.
