Lighthouse at Long Island Update

by Staff Writer / New York Islanders

Each month, the Lighthouse Development Group updates the community on the progress of the Lighthouse at Long Island project. Here is the latest newsletter:

Happy Holidays from everyone at the Lighthouse Development Group.

Charles B. Wang first brought his vision for the Lighthouse at Long Island to Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi in 2003. Since that time, and with many political stops and starts, many significant milestones have been reached and in November 2007, LDG submitted an application for a Planned Development District to the Town of Hempstead for approval. Unprecedented community outreach meetings were conducted (Click here to read more about the 160 community outreach meetings we have conducted as well as our upcoming meetings, media coverage and press releases) as well as almost 6 years of traffic studies.

To keep all of our supporters informed, LDG continues to work with the Town of Hempstead and its consultants, F.P. Clarke, on the environmental impact statements for the project and anticipates full submission in the next 60 days.

Here are some recent updates on our ongoing community outreach efforts:

Lighthouse Development Group Principal Scott Rechler and President Michael Picker updated the Lighthouse Steering Committee on November 18. As the project is continuing to move forward, it was an important time to re-engage the Steering Committee, letting them know how far we have come and how they can help us in the future.

On November 20, Rechler and LDG President Michael Picker updated the Nassau County Planning Commission on the project in a public meeting. Click here to read more.

The Regional Plan Association, Long Island Committee invited LDG to present an update on the project. Click here for more.

Paul Lancey, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communication met with the Mineola-Garden City Rotary Club. Click here for more.

Don’t forget, if you feel your group would benefit from a presentation from the Lighthouse team, email info@lighthouseli.com with your contact information and a representative will reach out to you.
