Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

by Cory Wright / New York Islanders
The New York Islanders are very proud to once again team up with local cancer foundations as a part of Hockey Fights Cancer this October.

The Islanders are working with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS), the largest volunteer health agency dedicated to blood cancer, to raise money and battle pediatric and blood cancers. Last season, the money raised by the Islanders and the league helped fund 10 research grants in this effort.

The LLS’s mission is to cure Luekemia, Lymphoma and other cancers, but also improve the quality of life and treatment for patients and their families. The organization has touched many lives through co-financing medical costs, providing therapy and information to patients in addition to their research.

The LLS will be one of four cancer foundations to have a table set up at the Nassau Coliseum on Oct. 15, when the Islanders take on the New York Rangers. The tables will feature information about the LLS and their mission.

To find out more about the organization, or how to make a donation to raising leukemia awareness, contact the Long Island Chapter by phone at (631) 370-7530 or www.LLS.org.
