A total of 57 players from the Suffolk PAL Girls team and Long Island Waves represented the Lady Islanders in style, donating the coats to those in need on Long Island. The girls were given two free games of bowling if they donated two coats. Each additional coat entitled them to a raffle ticket for an autographed Islanders jersey.
"This was the first event where all the girls teams on Long Island were able to participate in one place,” said Zoe Schwam, the Lady Islanders’ Director of Hockey. “The girls had a great time bowling, and we are so proud of all of them and their families for their extreme generosity. We are looking forward to more fun and more coats next year.”
The Lady Islanders were formed earlier this year through an economic and creative partnership with the Long Island Waves and Suffolk Police Athletic League (PAL)—Long Island’s leading youth hockey programs for women.
As a result, the Lady Islanders youth hockey program has provided and will continue to provide young women with a great opportunity to learn the sport from the early stages of the game. It also enables these players with the ability to compete right up to college. Click here
