Kirill Kabanov's Shawinigan Cataractes lost to the QMJHL Champion Saint John Sea Dogs Wednesday by a score of 4-1.

The Sea Dogs got off to a hot start, as Jonathan Huberdeau scored at 4:39 of the opening frame. With the period winding down, Saint John's Stanislav Galiev lit the lamp on the power play, giving the QMJHL champs a 2-0 lead heading into the intermission.

Late in the second period, the Sea Dogs went up 3-0 on Ryan Tesink's third goal of the tournament. With a minute left in the penalty-filled second stanza, Shawinigan's Anton Zlobin scored on the man advantage, cutting the Cataractes' deficit to 3-1.

An empty-net goal by Huberdeau at 18:28 of the third frame made the score 4-1.

With the loss, Shawinigan finishes the round-robin stage in a tie for third place. They will face the Edmonton Oil Kings on Thursday in the tie-breaker round, with the winner advancing to the semi-finals against Saint John. The London Knights have already secured a berth in the Championship Final.
