by Staff Writer / New York Islanders
Calling all future Islanders…

If hockey is your passion and your birth certificate reads 1999, clear your calendar for June 16 and 17.

The Junior Islanders coaching staff is looking for young and talented players who want to play with the best of the best in Pee-Wee hockey.

The two-day mini-camp will take place Thursday, June 16 from 7 – 8:30 p.m. and Friday, June 17, from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Islanders Iceworks in Syosset.

Benoit Hogue, former Islanders winger and Long Island resident, will head-up the coaching staff that will select players to attend a final tryout in late September, with the date to be determined.

Those who make the team will compete in the 53rd annual Quebec Pee-wee Hockey Tournament to be held February 10 - 20, 2012. Established in 1960, the Quebec Pee Wee Tournament attracts close to 200,000 fans per year and is regarded as the Olympics of Pee Wee hockey. The tournament will be held at the Pepsi Colisee.

Those who are interested must bring proof of birth, proof of USA Hockey Registration, tryout fee ($85 for the 2 day camp) and bring their A-game.

Islanders Iceworks is located at 175 Underhill Blvd, Syosset, NY 11791.
