Jr. Isles Head Home After Strong Showing in Quebec

by Staff Writer / New York Islanders

After a hard-fought tournament, the Jr. Islanders were eliminated Thursday night, falling 3-0 to the Antoine Girouard Gaulois at the Apridrome in Quebec City.

The Islanders fell behind early, but the normally-potent offense – including one of the tournament’s top-scorer Danny Weight – could not solve Gaulois goalie Jonathan Lemieux.

The Islanders finished the 2014 Quebec International PeeWee Tournament with wins over the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers as well as exhibition wins over the Anaheim Jr. Ducks, Slovakia K and B Team and the Citadelles Rouyn-Noranda.

In three playoff games, Weight scored six points (one goal, five assists) and led the tournament in scoring prior to Thursday. Matthew Crasa scored four goals in the three games, tying him for the tournament lead following Wednesday’s game.
