Twenty of the best 11 and 12-year-old hockey players from Long Island are participating in the 54th Annual Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament from Feb. 13-24. About 2,300 young hockey players from 16 countries come to Quebec to participate in the “World Championships of Pee-Wee Hockey.”
With the support from Islanders management and staff, the Junior Islanders are considered an important part of the Islanders family. Check this blog for updates about the team on and off the ice in Quebec City.
We played at 3 pm against the Detroit Red Wings. If we lost the game, we would be knocked out of the tournament games and only have exhibition games the rest of the trip. Right away Detroit scored on us. Three in the first, one in the second, and one in the third made the final score 5-0. Our boys had hustle and were trying but just couldn’t get the puck in the back of the net. At this time the coaches had to go upstairs to schedule the rest of the exhibition games. Most of the team decided to make their way to the Ice hotel, which is famous in Quebec. Over 100 people stay there every night for the experience.
