Islanders center Josh Bailey
didn't waste any time helping out the Islanders I.C.E. Tour for the start of the summer. With one NHL season under his belt, Bailey made sure that he continued to be a part of Long Island throughout the summer. Starting on July 4th and lasting until July 8th, Bailey participated in a handful of events right here on Long Island.
"I really enjoyed coming back and going out to some of the local camps here on Long Island," Bailey said. "Last summer I had heard that some of the guys were coming back to help out and I made sure that I was a part of that group this year. We saw so many Islanders fans at the different places we visited this week."
Bailey began his week back on Long Island with a bang. With the Islanders sponsoring the Fireworks Spectacular at Jones Beach on July 4th, Bailey made sure to come out and sign autographs for the hundreds of fans in attendance. Throughout the entire course of the event Bailey was meeting with fans both young and old. Fans took pictures, got autographs and played street hockey with Bailey.
The week continued with the I.C.E. Tour making appearances at Ivy League Day Camp in Smithtown and Kenwal Day Camp and Driftwood Day Camp in Melville. Bailey took the time at each camp to meet with campers and give out autographs. The children also got some hockey tips from Bailey while they played street hockey.
"The campers really seemed to enjoy themselves," Bailey said. "From going on the interactive games to playing street hockey everyone had a great time."
Bailey made his last appearance for the week before heading to Islanders Mini Camp with a visit to the Team Store located in the Broadway Mall in Hicksville. More than 150 fans eagerly awaited to get a chance to meet with Bailey and get his autograph. Bailey made sure before leaving that everyone in attendance that was waiting received an autograph.
