The New York Islanders announced today that forward Jon Sim has cleared waivers and has been assigned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL. The forward was placed on waivers Monday, Nov. 1.

While with the Islanders this season, the 33-year-old tallied two points (one goal, one assist) with ten penalty minutes in eleven games. Last year, the New Glasgow, NS, native scored 22 points (nine goals, 13 assists) in 77 games during his 12th NHL season and his third with the Islanders.

The Dallas Stars drafted Sim in the third round, 70th overall, of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. In 446 career NHL games with Dallas, the Nashville Predators, the Los Angelas Kings, the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Philadelphia Flyers, the Florida Panthers, the Atlanta Thrashers and the Islanders, Sim has scored 136 points (74 goals, 62 assists) and posted 302 penalty minutes.
