Offensive Dman Adds Depth to NYI Blueline

The Islanders have signed defenseman Joel Bouchard to a one-year deal.

The 31-year old Bouchard played for the Rangers in 2003-04 and had one goal and seven assists and was plus-2 in 28 games. In 339 NHL games over the last decade with Calgary, Nashvile, Dallas, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, the Devils and the Rangers, Bouchard is 21-45-66 with 241 penalty minutes.

Last season, the 6-1, 210-pound Bouchard played seven games with the Rangers' AHL affiliate in Hartford and was 1-3-4. The Montreal native was originally drafted by Calgary in the sixth round of the 1992 NHL Entry Draft.
