Congratulations to John Tavares, winner of the 2014-15 Islanders Goal of the Year

John Tavares’ OT winner against the Toronto Maple Leafs on March 9th earned the fan vote for “Goal of the Year.” Tavares set career highs in goals (38) and points (86) this season, finishing one point shy of the league’s scoring title. The Islanders captain had eight game-winning goals this season – including this beautiful individual effort against the Leafs – and tied an NHL All-Star Game record with four goals.

Congratulations to Jaroslav Halak, winner of the 2014-15 Islanders Save of the Year

Jaroslav Halak's save in Game Seven against Jay Beagle and the Washington Capitals earned the fan vote for "Save of the Year." During the regular season, Halak set multiple franchise records in his first year with the Isles, including 11 consecutive wins. The Bratislava, Slovakia native also posted 38 wins, besting the previous team record of 32 and played in his first career NHL All-Star Game.

Congratulations to Matt Martin, winner of the 2014-15 Islanders Hit of the Year

Matt Martin—the NHL’s most prolific hitter — won his second straight “Hit of the Year” title, beating out Travis Hamonic and Johnny Boychuk. Martin won the award for a crushing hit on Troy Brouwer in Game Six against the Washington Capitals. The Windsor, ON, native led the NHL with 382 hits this season, breaking his record of 374 set in 2011–12. Martin has led the league in bodychecks four consecutive seasons.
