Isles prospects three stars of the week

by Cory Wright / New York Islanders

First Star: Ryan Strome
Strome returned the IceDogs lineup for the first time since being injured on Jan. 14 and made his presence known. In an 11-0 win over Mississauga, Strome recorded two goals and two assists. The Mississauga, ON, native also recorded an assist in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Barrie and Sunday’s 5-3 win over Oshawa. Strome has 46 points (20g/26a) in 31 games this season and is second on the IceDogs with 1.48 points-per-game.

Second Star: Michael Haley
The Sound Tigers tough guy scored his first career AHL hat trick Saturday in Bridgeport’s dominant 8-1 win over Springfield. Haley potted the eventual game-winner at 17:13 of the first period, adding one more in each period, all at even strength. Haley fell a fight and an assist short of a Gordie Howe hat trick, but it will be an evening the Guelph, ON likely won’t forget.

Third Star: Ty Wishart
Wishart found the back of the net twice in Bridgeport’s 8-1 rout of Springfield on Saturday night. The blue-liner’s two power-play markers were his third and fourth of the season and he now has four goals and 11 assists on the year. For his efforts over the weekend, Wishart was recalled by the Islanders Monday and joined them in time for a trip to Winnipeg and St. Louis.
