Matt Martin took another step forward in his recovery from an upper-body injury, as he rejoined the Islanders at Wednesday's practice, his first full practice with the team since suffering his injury on Nov. 1.
While practicing marked progress for Martin, Barry Trotz ruled the Isles winger out of Thursday's game against the New York Rangers.
Andrew Ladd and Casey Cizikas were both absent from Wednesday's practice. Ladd left Tuesday's 5-2 win over Vancouver with a lower-body injury while Cizikas' ailment was undisclosed.

"They were a little nicked up, so they are being assessed," Trotz said. "We'll see where they are tomorrow. Can't confirm or deny they're in or out because I haven't heard yet."
Ladd and Cizikas' absences altered the Islanders practice lines. Tom Kuhnhackl, who scored two goals on Tuesday, took Ladd's spot alongside Jordan Eberle and Brock Nelson, while Martin skated with Cal Clutterbuck and Ross Johnston.
