Nikolay Kulemin had successful surgery on his upper-body injury and will be out for approximately six months, New York Islanders officials said on Monday.

Kulemin sustained the injury in the Islanders 2-1 OT loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Nov. 7 and has been sidelined since. The Russian forward had three points (1G, 2A) in 13 games this season and was one of the Islanders most-used penalty killing forwards, averaging 2:26 on the PK this season.
