UPDATE: Greiss (lower body) placed on IR retroactive to Feb. 16, Christopher Gibson was an emergency recall from Bridgeport.
Thomas Greiss suffered a lower-body injury during his 45-save shutout against the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday night and was placed on IR on Monday morning.
"Obviously it's lower body. I don't suspect it's going to be a huge amount of time, but I don't want to speak out of turn," Head Coach Doug Weight said. "If you say two weeks or four weeks and they find something else, I don't want to put him in that position. Certainly lower-body injuries for goalies are a little tougher to decipher. He's on the IR. He played great and hopefully he can take that energy he had and feeling and get back quick."
The call to Bridgeport was made on Monday as Christopher Gibson was an emergency recall. Gibson is 18-11-3 this season and has posted shutouts in consecutive games before his recall. The Sound Tigers goalie played four games with the Islanders during the 2015-16 season, going 1-1-1.
