Calvin de Haan returns to the Islanders lineup Monday after missing the previous four games with a lower-body injury. Brian Strait will come out of the lineup for de Haan, who will be paired with Travis Hamonic. That means Thomas Hickey will play with Ryan Pulock.
De Haan had missed five games from Feb. 18-28, came back for a pair of games in Vancouver and Winnipeg, before missing the most recent four. The defenseman said that the Islanders strong play on the road allowed him to take the necessary time to get back to 100%.
“It took a little longer to heal up,” de Haan said of his ailment. “It wasn’t really a problem, we were just being cautious and we’re in a good position right now and they want me to be healthy for the playoffs.”
The Islanders got more good news on the injury front, as Mikhail Grabovski was activated off injured reserve, but will not play on Monday night. Grabovski has been out since Feb. 23 with an upper-body injury.
“Want to get him a few more days, but he’s coming along,” Jack Capuano said of Grabovski.
Thomas Greiss will start in goal for the Islanders. There are no changes at forward.
