The New York Islanders announced today that three players have been loaned to the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The Islanders also released four players from tryout agreements.
Forward Jason Clark, along with defensemen Marc Cantin and Andrey Pedan have been loaned to Bridgeport. Forward Greg Miller and defensemen Mike Dalhuisen and Mike Keenan have been released from their amateur tryout agreements (ATO), while defenseman Dallas Jackson was released from his professional tryout agreement (PTO). All seven players will report to Sound Tigers training camp, which continues Tuesday, Oct. 1.
Clark, 21, recorded two assists in eight games with Bridgeport last season and added nine points (two goals, seven assists) in 24 games with the Gwinnett Gladiators of the ECHL. A native of Eden Prairie, MN, Clark was selected by the Islanders in the third round (82nd overall) of the 2010 National Hockey League Draft.
Cantin, 23, appeared in 22 games with the Sound Tigers and six games with the ECHL’s Las Vegas Wranglers last season. The Islanders acquired Cantin in a trade with the Boston Bruins on Feb. 27, 2012.
Pedan, 20, posted career highs in goals (14) and points (44) last season with the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League. The Islanders’ third-round pick (63rd overall) in the 2011 Draft made his professional debut with Bridgeport at the conclusion of his junior season, recording two assists in eight games.
Miller, 23, scored a career-best 33 points (14 goals, 19 assists) last season as a senior at Cornell University (East Coast Athletic Conference). The Toronto, ON, native signed an AHL contract with Bridgeport on Apr. 19, 2013 and attended Islanders training camp on an ATO.
Dalhuisen, 24, set career highs in goals (8), assists (8), points (16) and penalty minutes (72) during his senior campaign at Quinnipiac University (ECAC). The Nijmegen, Netherlands native signed an AHL contract with Bridgeport on April 19, 2013 and attended Islanders training camp on an ATO.
Keenan, 24, recorded career highs in goals (5), assists (11), points (16) and penalty minutes (58) last season during his senior year at Dartmouth College (ECAC). The Weymouth, MA native signed an AHL contract with Bridgeport on June 3 and attended Islanders training camp on an ATO.
Jackson, 24, joined the Sound Tigers from Gwinnett (ECHL) last season on Dec. 29, 2012 and agreed to an AHL deal on Feb. 27. The Edson, AB, native attended Islanders training camp on a PTO.
