The Islanders last preseason game in Bridgeport was in 2011 against the Bruins. The two teams played in front of a sellout crowd, so fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets as soon as possible.
The Sound Tigers have been the Islanders top minor league affiliate, playing at Webster Bank Arena since the 2001-02 season. Islanders alternate captains Kyle Okposo and Frans Nielsen both began their professional careers in Bridgeport. Okposo compiled 28 points (nine goals and 19 assists) in 35 games with the Sound Tigers while Nielsen played two seasons for the Sound Tigers, accumulating 82 points (30 goals and 42 assists). This past season, 14 players dressed in at least one game for both the Islanders and Sound Tigers.
Fans living on Long Island who plan on attending have the option of riding the Port Jefferson Ferry. Boats will run on their normal sailing schedule with the last departure of the night leaving Bridgeport at 10 p.m. Throughout the third period, departure announcements will take place, allowing fans to make sure they are on time for the ferry. Fans are also encouraged to make reservations by calling 1-888-44-FERRY.
