The New York Islanders will take on the Carolina Hurricanes in the First Round of the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Game 1 is slated for Monday, April 17, while Game 2 is slated for Wednesday, April 19.

The Islanders (93 points) enter the playoffs as the Eastern Conference's first wild card team, while the Hurricanes (113 points) enter as the Metropolitan Division champions. Carolina's 113 points are the second-most in franchise history, while their 52 wins are tied for second. The Hurricanes have won a division title in three straight seasons. The Islanders are returning to the playoffs after a one-year absemce and are in the postseason for the fourth time in five seasons.

The Islanders went 1-3-0 against the Hurricanes during the regular season, winning 6-2 on Oct. 28 in Raleigh. The Hurricanes took the next three matchups, winning 3-0 on Dec. 10 at UBS Arena, 5-2 on Jan. 21 at UBS Arena and 2-1 on Apr. 2 at PNC Arena.
The Isles and Canes have met once before in the postseason, with Carolina sweeping the Isles in four games during the 2019 playoffs.
