Islanders School Day Contest

by Brittany Cole / New York Islanders
If your school is committed to teamwork, here is your chance to prove it.

The Islanders are asking all local schools to participate in a fundraising contest for the Islanders @ School program. The Islanders School Day Contest involves selling tickets to an upcoming Islanders home game during the 2011-12 season. The fundraising proceeds can go towards a school project, a select charity or just a fun night out to watch Islanders hockey.

Islanders forward Josh Bailey speaks to students at a local elementary school as part of the Islanders School Day Assembly.
The top 10 schools to sell the most tickets and bring in the largest group will each be awarded an assembly hosted by one of your favorite Islanders players. At the assembly, the player will discuss the importance of reading, working hard and staying in school.

The fundraiser is already under way, so if your school wants to see John Tavares, Michael Grabner or another Isles player this school year, it’s time to start selling. For more information on the contest, contact Islanders Group Sales at 1-800-882-ISLES, ext. 3, or at

Also included in the Islanders @ School program are fun-filled lesson plans that include teaching the importance of teamwork, a good education, working hard and staying fit. Teachers interested in the program can visit You can also learn about how to receive another one of our assemblies.
