ISLANDERS RECOGNIZE VETERANS

by Staff Writer / New York Islanders

As part of a season long promotion, the Islanders, Cellino & Barnes and Adelphi University recognize local military personnel who have served overseas protecting America and representing all Long Islanders.

On Saturday, the Islanders honor Captain Thomas Iannuccilli of the Army National Guard.  Captain Iannuccilli enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserves in 1992 and was stationed in Fort Schuyler, NY.  In 2002, he transferred to the New York Army National Guard and was deployed in support of operation Iraqi Freedom from August 2005 until November 2006 as the Detachment Commander of the 14th Finance Detachment.  Captain Iannuccilli earned the Combat Action Badge, Meritorious Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, and the New York State Distinguished Service Cross.

Thomas Iannuccilli is one of 41 military personnel the team plans on honoring during the 2009-2010 season.  For more information on the Welcome Home Veteran of the Game promotion presented by Cellino & Barnes and Adelphi University and the past honorees, please visit the team’s dedication page by clicking here
