The New York Islanders announced today that Matt Martin has been recalled on emergency basis from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League (AHL). The emergency recall came about due to injuries to Trent Hunter and Michael Grabner.

Martin, 21, has three points (one goal, two assists) in seven games this season with Bridgeport. Last season, the Windsor, ON, native posted 31 points (12 goals, 19 assists) in 76 games as a rookie with the Sound Tigers.

He also made his NHL debut last year, seeing action in five games with the Islanders and netting a pair of assists. Martin, a 6-3, 210-pound forward, was selected by the Islanders in the fifth round (148th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
