Islanders prospects Three Stars of the Week

by Cory Wright / New York Islanders

Third Star – Casey Cizikas
The Sound Tigers center enjoyed another solid week and is on a six-game point streak. Cizikas registered two goals and three assists in four games last week and has seven points (3g/4a) during his six-game run. While several Sound Tigers (Scott Howes, Kael Mouillierat) had three-game streaks during the week, Cizikas, the team’s leading scorer, continues to lead the way with 25 points (8g/17a) this season. Along with linemate Rhett Rakhshani, Cizikas has propelled the Sound Tigers to a surging start in 2012.  See Cizikas highlights on Sound Tigers TV.

Second Star – Rhett Rakhshani -
While goaltender Kevin Poulin was putting on a goaltending clinic, Rhett Rakhshani provided the offense for the Sound Tigers, scoring three goals and three assists last week. Rakhshani had a goal and an assist against Worcester on Monday, Manchester on Thursday, a goal against Portland on Saturday and an assist against Providence on Sunday. His offensive explosion last week is a part of a five-game point streak, where Rakhshani has posted eight points, matching half of his season output. Through 20 games, the right winger from Huntington Beach, CA has six goals and 10 assists for 16 points. Check out highlights on Sound Tigers TV.

First Star – Kevin Poulin
The Sound Tigers goalie was the driving force behind Bridgeport’s blazing start to 2012. Poulin posted three straight 4-0 shutouts against Worcester, Manchester and Portland, and won a shootout 3-2 against Providence on Sunday. Poulin racked up 77 saves during his shutout streak and stopped 22 more in Sunday’s win. The Montreal native set a new shutout record in Bridgeport (221:54, slightly more than 11 full periods) and improved to 11-12-0-3 on the season.  He was also named Reebok/AHL player of the week.
