by Kelly Keogh / New York Islanders

Dal Colle Extends Point-Streak; Hits the 300-Point mark

First-round draft pick, Memorial Cup Champion and now, Mr. 300.

Michael Dal Colle continues to rack up the accolades in his junior hockey career, as the Islanders 2014 first-rounder hit the 300-point mark on Sunday. Dal Colle’s eight-point week (4G, 4A) helped boost his Eastern Conference leading Kingston Frontenics to a 3-1 record.

Dal Colle scored his 300th career OHL point in Sunday’s 4-0 win over the Niagara Ice Dogs, tallying a goal and two assists. Dal Colle’s three-point night helped him earn the game’s third star.

With just one month left in the OHL regular season Dal Colle is hitting his stride at the perfect time. Dal Colle is riding a 14-game point streak, the longest active streak in the OHL and has recorded 28 points (15G, 13A) in just over a month including eight multi-point games

The Richmond Hill, Ontario native has jumped into the OHL Top 20 in scoring (currently 18th) since being traded to Kingston on New Year’s Day.

Sorokin Sets KHL Record; Opens Playoffs with Shutout

Ilya Sorokin’s career-year has carried over to the KHL playoffs, as the Islanders prospect recorded a shutout in his first KHL playoff game. Sorokin turned aside all 24 shots he faced in CSKA Moscow’s 2-0 win over Slovan.

Sorokin had an outstanding regular season, posting a KHL-record 1.06 goals-against average, while holding the league’s second-best save percentage (.953). The Islanders 2014 third-round pick (78th overall) was .001% shy of tying the league high in save percentage and finished the season 17-7-4 with 10 shutouts.
