Bischoff helps the Gophers

Jake Bischoff registered three points (1G, 2A) helping the Minnesota Golden Gophers split their weekend series with #9 Michigan. Bischoff, a junior defenseman, recorded an assist in Friday’s loss and added a goal and an assist in Saturday’s win where he was named the game’s second star.

Bischoff, has registered eight points (3G, 5A) in 15 games with Minnesota this season. The Grand Rapids, Minn. native was the Islanders seventh-round pick (185th overall) in 2012. 

Vande Sompel In Offensive Rhythm

Mitchell Vande Sompel notched three points this weekend for the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League. The Generals defenseman recorded two assists in Oshawa’s 3-2 over Niagara on Friday and added an assist on Sunday’s loss to Saginaw. Friday’s two-assist night was his third multipoint game of the season.

The London, Ontario native has registered 12 points (1G, 11A) in 18 games with Oshawa. Vande Sompel ranks second among all Generals defenseman in both points and assists this season.

Islanders’ prospects Mathew Barzal (Seattle, WHL), Anthony Beauvillier (Shawinigan, QMJHL) and Michael Dal Colle (Oshawa, OHL) were away from their CHL teams to attend Team Canada’s World Junior Championships Camp.

Sound Tigers’ Graham Streaking

Bridgeport: 16-10-1, 34 pts., 3rd in Atlantic Division, 5th in Eastern Conference

Bridgeport dropped two of their three games this week to fall one spot in the Atlantic Division rankings. Defenseman Jesse Graham (2A) and forward Taylor Beck (2G) led the Sound Tigers with two points each in Friday’s win over the Portland Pirates. Graham added an assist in each of Bridgeport’s losses on Saturday and Sunday to extend his point streak to five games (6A). Graham has 14 points (4G, 10A) in 26 games this season. 

The Sound Tigers look bounce back in the standings on Friday when they visit the Providence Bruins then will host Portland for a pair of games on Saturday and Sunday.

Mavericks historic streak ends at 14

Missouri: 19-3-1 (39 points), 1st in Central Division, 1st in Western Conference, 1st in the ECHL

The Missouri Mavericks franchise record 14-game win streak came to an end on Sunday in a 4-3 loss to the Tulsa Oilers. Sunday’s loss was Missouri’s first regulation loss since Oct. 31. Missouri’s streak included a perfect month of November (12-0-0).

Missouri will open up a three-game homestand this weekend when they host the Cincinnati Cyclones for a pair of games on Friday and Saturday then faceoff against the Quad City Mallards on Sunday.

The Mavericks 19-3-1 start is the best start in franchise history.
