Barzal on a Roll

Mathew Barzal picked up five points (1G,  4A) in three games for the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League. The Islanders’ prospect picked up at least one point in each of his three games this week – all wins – to extend his point streak to six games. The Thunderbirds have won six straight games, as well. Barzal leads Seattle with 34 points (6G, 28A) and is currently sixth in WHL scoring. 

Meanwhile, in the Ontario Hockey League…

Joshua Ho-Sang extended his point-scoring streak to an OHL-best, 13 games. His streak is tied for the longest in the OHL this season. 

Sound Tigers Boast Two Top Scorers  

Bridgeport: 13-5-1, 24 pts., 2nd in Atlantic Division, 3rd in Eastern Conference

Joe Whitney continues to lead the Bridgeport Sound Tigers offensively. Whitney’s 20 points (5G, 15A) are tops in Bridgeport and are second-best in the American Hockey League. Bracken Kearns picked up two assists in last week’s games, giving him 18 points (10G, 8A) this season, good for fourth in the league. 

The Sound Tigers fell in overtime to the Rochester Americans 3-2 Friday night, but responded with a 4-2 win over the Utica Comets on Saturday. The Sound Tigers were shutout for the first time this season the 2-0 loss to Springfield on Sunday.

Missouri Wins Eighth Straight 

Missouri: 13-2-1, 21 pts., 1st in Central Division, 1st in Western Conference

The Missouri Mavericks extended their winning streak to eight games and remain undefeated in the month of November. The Mavericks defeated the Allen Americans 4-1 Tuesday night, then picked up a 5-4 overtime win over the Tulsa Oilers Friday night. Missouri closed out the week with a 5-2 win over the Wichita Thunder on Saturday. 

Tyler Barnes and Jesse Root both tallied five points (2G, 3A) in three games last week for the Mavericks. Both Barnes and Root rank in the top five in ECHL scoring.
