Stephon Williams Blanks Lake Superior State

Stephon Williams continues to piece together an impressive season for the Minnesota State Mavericks with a pair of shutouts against the Lake Superior State Lakers over the weekend.  Williams stopped 24 shots on Friday night and 21 shots on Saturday for the back-to-back clean sheets. The junior goaltender currently ranks fourth in the entire nation in with a 1.52 goals against average and boasts a .931 save percentage with his 11-1-0 record. The Islanders selected the Fairbanks, Alaska native in the fourth round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft after a strong freshman season with Minnesota State. Minnesota State is currently ranked number two by U.S. College Hockey Online in their most recent poll.

Andrey Pedan Traded to Canucks Organization

On Tuesday, the Islanders traded 2011 third-round pick Andrey Pedan to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Alex Mallet and a third-round pick in 2016. Mallet was assigned to the Stockton Thunder (ECHL), while Pedan was assigned to the Utica Comets (AHL). The Canucks selected Mallet in the second round, 57th overall, in 2012.

Dal Colle Invited to World Junior Selection Camp

Hockey Canada announced Monday that 2014 fifth-overall pick Michael Dal Colle has been named to the country's 2015 National Junior Team Selection Camp Roster. The Vaughan, Ont. native is one of 17 forwards included on the selection camp roster. In 20 games this season, the Oshawa Generals left winger has 41 points (18 goals, 23 assists). The 2015 World Junior Championship will take place from Dec. 26, 2014 to Jan. 5, 2015 in Toronto and Montreal.

Bridgeport Sound Tigers:  11-7-2-1, T-2nd in Northeast Division, T-4th in Eastern Conference

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers suffered two consecutive losses before salvaging the weekend with a win on Sunday afternoon. Despite 47 saves on 50 shots by Kevin Poulin on Friday night, the Sound Tigers were edged 3-2 by the Manchester Monarchs. On Saturday, David Leggio made 28 saves on 31 shots, but the Sound Tigers fell 3-1 to the Hartford Wolf Pack. Poulin righted the ship on Sunday afternoon, stopping all 33 shots against in a 3-0 win over the Providence Bruins. Harry Zolnierczyk scored the game-winning goal on Sunday, finishing the weekend with two goals while Kael Mouillierat led the Sound Tigers with three points (one goal, two assists). Mike Halmo, (two goals), Colin McDonald (one goal, one assist), C.J. Stretch (two assists) and defenseman Aaron Ness (two assists) all recorded two points.

Stockton Thunder: 8-11-0, T-5th in Pacific Division, T-9th in Western Conference

The Stockton Thunder split a pair of games last week, falling to the Bakersfield Condors 5-2 on Wednesday night, before defeating the Utah Grizzlies a 6-1 on Friday. 20-year-old Latvian forward Roberts Lipsbergs scored his first professional goal in the loss on Wednesday. Alex Mallet scored three points (one goal, two assists) in his Stockton debut, while goaltender Phillippe Trudeau stopped 35-of-36 shots in the win on Friday.
