Pulock Takes Home Wheat Kings Awards

The Brandon Wheat King’s Captain and Islanders 2013 first-round pick was the big winner at the team’s annual Awards Night. One year after taking home five trophies, the 19-year old Grandview, Manitoba native capped off the 2013-14 regular season by capturing three more as the Wheat Kings finished the regular season in the WHL’s Eastern Conference. Pulock took home the Meighen Haddad Most Valuable Player award and the Manitoba Hydro Turk Broda Trophy as the club’s top Manitoba-born player. In addition to Haddad and the Broda, Pulock became the first Brandon blueliner in 35 years to capture his third Top Defenseman honor, officially called the Brad McCrimmon Memorial Trophy. Pulock picked up eight points (two goals, six assists) this week, including a four-point outing (one goal, three assists) in Brandon's 8-5 win over Saskatoon.

Adam Pelech Signs Entry-Level Contract

Adam Pelech, the Islanders third-round pick in 2012, has agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract with the team. Pelech is ranked third among the OHL defenseman with 54 points in 60 games for the Erie Otters. Pelech has made his mark on the international stage, representing Canada in the 2014 World Juniors and winning the bronze in the 2012 World Under-18 Junior Championships.
