Victor Crus Rydberg: Crus Rydberg sinks the Saginaw Spirit during four-point week.


Victor Crus Rydberg had a four-point week for the Plymouth Whalers, scoring two goals and two assists in three games. Crus Rydberg was a force against the Saginaw Spirit, scoring once and setting up the game-winning goal in a 3-1 victory. The Islanders 2013 fifth-round pick was named the first star of the game. Crus Rydberg is now on a three-game point streak and has 37 points (12 goals, 25 assists) in 60 games this season.

Graham and Pelech dish out pucks, serve wins:


Jesse Graham of the Saginaw and Spirit and Adam Pelech of the Erie Otters had monster weeks for their respective teams, combining for 13 assists. Graham dished the puck for seven assists in two games against the Sarnia Sting and Windsor Spitfires. The Islanders sixth-round pick in 2012 had four helpers in a 5-2 win over Sarnia on Mar. 4 and followed it up with a three-assist effort two days later in an 8-3 win against Windsor.  Pelech picked up six assists in three wins this week. The Islanders third-round pick in 2012 potted three assists in an 11-2 win over the Plymouth Whalers, two in a 6-1 win over Windsor and one in a 7-3 victory defeat of Kitchener.


PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATES

Bridgeport Sound Tigers:  26-27-2-4, 3rd in Northeast Division, 10th in Eastern Conference

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers dropped a two-game set against the St. John’s IceCaps over the weekend. Johan Sundstrom and Joey Martin scored on Friday, but the Sound Tigers comeback fell short, as they lost 3-2. The Sound Tigers lost again on Saturday, but managed to take a point in a 3-2 overtime loss. Scooter Vaughan and Aaron Ness scored in Saturday’s contest. Kevin Poulin was busy in both contests, stopping 35 shots on Friday and 34 on Saturday.

Stockton Thunder: 27-22-0-6, 2nd in Pacific Division, 6th in Western Conference

The Stockton Thunder fell 3-2 in a shootout to the Utah Grizzlies on Saturday. The Thunder struck early, as Ryan Hayes scored on Stockton’s first shot of the game. Corey Trivino put the Thunder ahead 2-0, but Utah scored twice to force overtime and a shootout. The Grizzlies’ Phil Mangan scored the game-decider in the shootout.
