Strome and Theoret team up for IceDogs

Forwards Ryan Strome (two goals, two assists) and Mitchell Theoret (three goals, one assist) combined for eight points in Niagara’s (Ontario Hockey League) four games last week. Strome and Jesse Graham assisted on Theoret’s goal on Oct. 11 vs. Ottawa. On Oct. 13 at Sarnia, Strome earned a helper on Theoret’s second period tally before Theoret assisted on Strome’s third period marker. The next day at Windsor, Theoret scored the game’s opening goal, while Strome scored his seventh of the season midway through the third period, tying the game at 3-3. Niagara went on to win 4-3 in a shootout, improving to 6-4-1. Strome is tied for sixth in the OHL with 14 points (seven goals, seven assists) in 11 games.

Kichton’s big week boosts Chiefs
Defenseman Brenden Kichton of the Spokane Chiefs (Western Hockey League) helped his team to a 2-1 record last week with a goal and two assists. On Oct. 10 at Kelowna, Kichton recorded a power play assist and a shorthanded assist just 70 seconds apart, as Spokane skated to a 6-4 victory. Against Vancouver on Oct. 13, the Edmonton, AB native scored on the man advantage with time winding down in the first period, as Spokane won 5-2. Kichton has three goals and seven assists in eight games this season.

Lee and Russo help Irish win Ice Breaker Tournament
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish (CCHA) won the four-team Ice Breaker Tournament over the weekend in Kansas City, MO, thanks to its two Islanders prospects. Defenseman Robbie Russo assisted on the game’s only goal on Oct. 12 vs. Maine, sending the Irish to the finals. The next night against Nebraska-Omaha, forward Anders Lee set up the game’s first goal one minute in, and scored later in the period to give Notre Dame the lead for good as they held on to beat the Mavericks 3-2.
