College Hockey Gears Up for the Playoffs
After earning a first round bye in the Hockey East Tournament, Boston University will face Northeastern University in the Best-of-Three Quarterfinal Round this weekend. Islanders prospects Kieffer Bellows and Doyle Somerby will suit up for the Terriers in the playoffs. BU finished the season with an overall record of 21-10-3 and 13-6-3 in conference play.
Bellows, the Islanders' 2016 first-round pick, finished the regular season with five points (3G, 2A) in his last six games for the Terriers. Somerby, the senior defenseman, has had success in his career against Northeastern as three of his seven goals have come against the Huskies.

The University of Minnesota secured a first-round by in the Big Ten Tournament with a weekend split in Michigan last weekend. The Golden Gophers dropped Friday's game 5-3, but rebounded for a 4-1 win on Saturday to secure the first-round bye in the Big Ten Tournament beginning on March 16.
Taylor Cammarata, the Islanders' 2013 third-round pick, scored the opening goal in Friday's loss and posted an assist later in the game. Fellow Islanders prospect Jake Bischoff had two assists in the series, one in each game for the Gophers. Minnesota concludes the regular season with a home series against Michigan State this weekend.
Michigan freshman Nick Pastujov, who recently scored his first collegiate goal in a 1-0 win over Ohio State on Feb. 25, will cap off his rookie regular season this weekend with a home series against Penn State. The Islanders' 2016 seventh-round pick and Michigan will then look ahead to the Big Ten Tournament.
Missouri Loses Consecutive Games for the First Time Since JanuaryMissouri Mavericks: 27-23-2-5; 5th in Mountain Division; 9th in Western Conference
The Missouri Mavericks recorded back-to-back losses against the Allen Americans this week before responding with a win over the Tulsa Oilers. Missouri has not lost back-to-back games since mid-January.
Missouri kicked off the trio of weekend games with a 3-1 loss against the Americans on Friday night. Defenseman Kevin Tansey scored the lone goal for the Mavs. The following night Missouri jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period before eventually falling to Allen by a score of 4-2.
The Mavericks ended the three-game stretch on a high note with a 6-3 win over Tulsa on Sunday afternoon. The win was highlighted by a full team effort as all six goals were scored by different players, including Tansey who scored in all three games over the weekend. The rookie defenseman is currently in the midst of a six game point streak consisting of 6 goals and 3 assists.
Missouri will play two home games this weekend, facing off against familiar foes, Allen and Tulsa.
