Devon Toews Named To AHL All-Star Classic:

The American Hockey League announced today defenseman Devon Toews has been selected to represent the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at the 2017 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Capital BlueCross, which will be held Jan. 29-30 at the PPL Center in Allentown, Penn.
In his first professional season, Toews leads the Sound Tigers with 18 assists and ranks second on the club with 22 points in 33 games. The 22-year-old is fourth among all AHL rookies in helpers and is ninth among league defensemen in points. He recorded his first career goal and multi-point game (one goal, one assist) on November 4th against the Hartford Wolf Pack, and notched a career-high four assists on November 29th against the Albany Devils.

Bellows Back To Work For BU:

Three days after winning a gold medal with Team USA at the World Junior Hockey Championships, Kieffer Bellows was back on the ice for Boston University. Bellows recorded an assist in BU's 5-3 win over UMass in an outdoor game at Fenway Park. The Islanders 2016 first-round pick (19th overall) has seven points (4G, 3A) in 16 games.

"My all-around game has really improved at BU," Bellows said. "Coach [David] Quinn, [Albie] O'Connell and [Scott] Young are great coaches and they help you round out every part of your game. I think I'm getting a lot stronger with the off-ice training and it's an unbelievable experience playing college hockey."

Ilya Sorokin Records 20th Win, Named KHL All-Star:

Ilya Sorokin won his 20th game of the season on Thursday, recording 20 saves in a 2-0 shutout over Dinamo Riga. Sorokin is 20-5-5 this season with a 1.54 goals-against average - fourth in the KHL - a .930 save percentage and five shutouts. The Islanders' 2014 3rd round pick (78th overall) is 5-0-1 in his last six games.
Sorokin and Islanders 2016 4th round pick Anatoli Golyshev were named the KHL All-Star Game, which is happening on Jan. 21 and 22. Sorokin will represent the Tarasov Division, while Golyshev will represent the Kharlamov Division.

David Quenneville Breaks Leg, Halts Career Year:

David Quenneville's career-year is being put on pause, as the defenseman is out four-to-six weeks with a fractured tibia.
Quenneville, the Islanders 2016 7th round pick (200th overall), is leading WHL defensemen in goals (20) and points (48) this season. The Edmonton, AB, native had his eight-game point streak snapped because of the injury. Medicine Hat currently leads the WHL's Central Division with a 29-12-1 record, thanks in part to Quenneville.

Mavericks Score Five Unanswered Goals in Comeback Win:

Missouri Mavericks: 13-16-1-4 - 31 points; 6th in Mountain Division; 11th in Western Conference
The Missouri Mavericks went 1-1-0 in two games last week, splitting a back-to-back set with the Wichita Thunder. The Mavericks staged an enormous comeback on Friday night, battling back from a 4-0 deficit to win 5-4 in overtime. The win snapped the Mavs three-game losing streak. Missouri staged an unsuccessful comeback on Saturday night, falling behind 3-0 and getting as close as 3-2 in a 4-2 loss.
Dane Fox leads the Mavs in assists (16) and points (27) and his 11 goals are tied with Rocco Carzo and Sam Povorozniouk.
