Holmstrom Named to Sweden's WJC Camp Roster

Simon Holmstrom, the Islanders' 2019 first rounder (23rd overall) was named to

preliminary camp roster. The Swedish team will play three games against a preliminary Finnish team from Nov. 5-7 in Malmö.
This year's WJC is slated to take place at Edmonton's Rogers Place without fans and is scheduled to begin on December 25, 2020, and end with the gold medal game on January 5, 2021.
If Holmstrom makes the team, this year will be his first World Juniors appearance, though the winger suited up for his nation at the 2019 under-18s.
Holmstrom, who was loaned from Bridgeport to HC Vita Hasten in Sweden's HockeyAllsvenskan. On Oct. 26, Holmstrom posted a two-point outing as he scored his first goal and assist of the season in Vita Hasten's 7-2 rout over Vasteras. The winger and HC Vita Hasten are ranked 8th overall in Allsvenskan with a record of 4-4-0.

Update on Wahlstrom

Oliver Wahlstrom - who was loaned to AIK in Allsvenskan - suffered an undisclosed injury following an awkward crash into the boards on Oct. 21. The team released a statement on Twitter acknowledging Wahlstrom's injury and informing that they would fill his void for the time being. There has been no timeline released for when the winger will return to action.
Through six games with AIK, the Isles 2018 first rounder (11th overall) has totaled four points (2G, 2A). Wahlstrom and AIK ranked 10th overall in Allsvenskan with a record of 3-4-0 through seven games.

Ljungkrantz Heating Up

Alexander Ljungkrantz, the first selection of the Isles' 2020 draft class (90th overall), has recorded 14 points (9G, 5A) in as many games with Brynas IF J20 in Sweden's SuperElit U20 league. The winger is now at a point-per-game pace and has scored nine goals in his last 13 games.
Ljungkrantz and Brynas IF are ranked in second place with a record of 6-1-3-4 (ROW, OTW, OTL, L).

Golyshev Continuing to Generate

Over in the KHL, Anatoly Golyshev is continuing to produce for Avtombolist. The Isles' 2016 fourth rounder (95th overall) has totaled 12 points (7G, 5A) in 17 games. Of the winger's seven goals, five of them were scored on the power play. Golyshev posted a two-point outing (1G, 1A) in Avtombolist's 5-2 win over Neftekhimik on Oct. 22.
Golyshev and Avtombolist are ranked third overall in KHL with a 13-4-3 record.

Other Notables:

Robin Salo, the Isles' 2017 second rounder (46th overall), has four points (1G, 3A) in 10 games with Orebro in the Swedish Hockey League. Salo and Orebro dropped to fifth place overall in the SHL with a 5-1-1-3 record (ROW, OTW, OTL, L) and 18 points.
In Finland's top league, Liiga, Matias Rajaniemi - who was selected in the sixth round in 2020 (183rd overall) - has played in seven games with the Pelicans, but has yet to record a point. The blueliner and Pelicans are ranked 12th overall in Liiga with a record of 3-5-0.
Also in Liiga, Ruslan Iskhakov and Otto Koivula are continuing to play. Iskahkov, the Isles' 2018 second rounder (43rd overall), has five points (2G, 3A) in eight games with TPS. The winger and TPS sit at 11th place in Liiga with a 2-3-3 record.
Koivula, Isles' 2016 fourth-rounder (120th overall), was loaned from Bridgeport to HIFK in Liiga and has scored once and added an assist through four games. The winger and HIFK are currently ranked fourth overall in Liiga with a 3-4-2 record.
Henrik Tikkanen, who was the Isles final draftee of 2020 (seventh round 214th overall), is competing in the second-highest Finnish league, Mestis, with IPK. The goaltender has suited up in seven of IPK's 11 games, has posted a 4-1-1 record and compiled a 2.31 GAA and a .899 SV%.
William Dufour, the Isles' 20202 fifth-round pick (152th overall), last played on Oct. 10 with the Drummondville Voltigeurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The 'Q' is the sole league of the North American junior circuis to have started the 2020-21 campaign so far. As a result of positive COVID-19 tests, the league had to suspend play in its Quebec divisions until at least Oct. 28, which included Dufour and Drummondville.
Prior to the pause, Dufour had posted three assists in two games.
