The New York Islanders are partnering with the City Parks Foundation to bring a free after-school Street Hockey Program to three centers in Brooklyn and Queens.
The six-week program teaches kids (ages 8-12) basic hockey skills such as stickhandling, passing, shooting and core life skills such as safety, teamwork and sportsmanship. The City Parks Foundation Street Hockey Program will be taught by local teachers and coaches and takes place Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm-5:30pm.

The program starts on October 2nd and takes place at Sunset Park and St. John's Park in Brooklyn, as well as Queens Village which, is across the street from the future site of the Islanders new arena at Belmont Park.
Islanders mascot, Sparky the Dragon, was on site help kick-off the Street Hockey Program at all three locations on Oct. 2-4.
