With thousands of people heading over to Mitchell Field this weekend to register for the Long Island Marathon, many of them then made their way across the street with their families to have a great afternoon at the Long Island Children’s Museum’s Family Fun Day. All of museum row was transformed into a carnival-like atmosphere that included rides, exhibits, and of course, the Islanders! From 12 to 3 pm, the Islanders Family Fan Fest was open to the public at the event, allowing young fans to race through the exciting obstacle course, jump around in the moonbounce, test their shooting accuracy at the slap shot booth, or have their picture taken with one of the lovely Islanders Ice Girls. The Fan Fest also included some great Islanders prizes for everyone. Sparky was also in attendance, starting at Mitchell Field and participating in the Kid’s Fun Run. While at the Fun Run, Sparky helped the children stretch out and then raced around the track along with Ronald McDonald. After completing the race, Sparky came over to the Children’s Museum to spend some time with his fans at the Islanders’ display as well as make his way onto some of the carnival rides with some lucky kids. Everyone who stopped by had a blast!
