Islanders ECHL affiliate begins Conference Semifinals

by Staff Writer / New York Islanders
It will be a rematch of last year’s Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, as the Kalamazoo Wings take on the Reading Royals in game one of the conference Semifinals. Last season, the Royals advanced to the semifinals by defeating the K-Wings three games to two in the best-of-five series.

Returning to the Sovereign Center since their game-five demise, the K-Wings are hoping to avenge last year’s loss to the Royals. Kalamazoo advanced to the conference semifinals by knocking off the Florida Everblades in four games.

Like Kalamazoo, Reading needed four games to march on to the semifinals, as they defeated the Cincinnati Cyclones three games to one. Reading split the regular season series one game apiece with Kalamazoo, as the teams won identical 3-2 contests in mid December, both played at Wings Stadium.
