Portland Winterhawks

The Islanders have previously selected only three players from the Portland Winterhawks. Just last year in the 2010 Draft, the Islanders selected Nino Niederreiter fifth overall. He was the first player selected from the Winterhawks since 1985.

If the Islanders select Ty Rattie, he will be the second player to become a part of the Isles system in recent years. Prior to Niederreiter, the Islanders drafted Jeff Finley (1985, 55th overall) and Richard Kromm (1982, 37th overall) from Portland.
