Preview: Islanders vs. Devils

Thomas Greiss makes his preseason debut as the Islanders host the Devils

by Cory Wright WrightsWay / New York Islanders

Thomas Greiss will likely make his preseason debut on Monday, as the New York Islanders host the New Jersey Devils at Barclays Center at 7 p.m.

Greiss is returning from the World Cup of Hockey and looking to wear the Islanders sweater for the first time since the 2016 playoffs. Last season Greiss went 23-11-4 setting career-highs in wins and games played (41).

After icing a prospect-laded squad on Saturday night in Bridgeport, more veterans are slated to suit up for the Islanders on Monday. Nick Leddy, Travis Hamonic, Andrew Ladd, Brock Nelson, Ryan Strome and PA Parenteau are all expected to play on Monday. Johnny Boychuk will also make his preseason debut on Monday after missing the Islanders first four preseason games with an upper-body injury.

Cory Schneider headlines the New Jersey Devils roster. If Schnieder plays, he'll also be making his preseason debut after returning from the World Cup.

The Islanders are 1-3-0 this preseason while the Devils are 2-3-0.
