Islanders By The Numbers: 24 Down, 24 To Go

The Islanders played game #24 Thursday against the New York Rangers, marking the midway point of the 2012-13 regular season. As the Islanders enter the second-half of the season, it’s time to take a look back at the numbers through the first 24 games.

0 – Number of shorthanded goals allowed by the Islanders this season.

1 – Number of players who made their NHL debut in an Islanders sweater this season. Thomas Hickey played his first NHL game on Jan. 27 at Winnipeg.

1.000Evgeni Nabokov’s save percentage in the shootout. He has stopped all four shots faced and is 2-0.

2 – Number of shootout goals and attempts for each Frans Nielsen and John Tavares

3 – Number of 10-goal scorers on the Islanders roster (John Tavares, Matt Moulson, Michael Grabner). The Isles are one of three teams (Chicago, Pittsburgh) with three double-digit scorers.

3 – number of goals for John Tavares on Feb. 16 vs. New Jersey, the night he posted his fourth career hat trick

– assists for Evgeni Nabokov, who leads all NHL goaltenders in the stat

4 – Season-high number of power play goals for the Islanders on Feb. 24 vs. Carolina, one shy of the franchise record

5 – Consecutive number of games in which John Tavares scored a goal from Feb. 7-16

5 – Number of games in the Islanders longest road trip of the first half. From Jan. 24-31, they went 3-1-1 against Toronto, Boston, Winnipeg, Pittsburgh and New Jersey. The Islanders have another five-game road trip to conclude the season.

7 – Number of games in the Islanders longest home stand of the season. The Islanders are 2-2-2 so far on the home stand, with the final game coming March 9 vs. Washington

8 - Number of points earned in games going past regulation. The Islanders are 4-3 in games that reach overtime or the shootout.

299 - Career games played for Matt Moulson. He will play in his 300th (and 271st consecutive game as an Islander) on March 9 vs. Washington

557 – Number of saves for Evgeni Nabokov. He ranks second in the league behind Buffalo’s Ryan Miller in that category.
