The Islanders Community Events (I.C.E.) Tour was welcomed at the The Rinx in Hauppauge Saturday afternoon for another Islanders Rink Day. While the weather is hot out, the I.C.E. Tour, along with special guests, will be making stops at Long Island rinks in anticipation of Rink Days at the Nassau Coliseum during the 2008-09 season.

This weekend, Bruno Gervais is in town, as well as Eric Cairns, Islanders assistant coach John Chabot and Bridgeport Sound Tigers assistant coach Pat Bingham. The four were at the Rinx helping aspiring hockey players with on-ice drills.

"What an exciting day today," said Gervais. "It was great to be able to skate with the kids and help them develop their hockey skills. We are looking to grow the game of ice hockey on Long Island and I am happy to be a part of these events."

Over 100 kids made it out to the Rinx and weren't disappointed. Along with the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to skate with the pros, every kid received a Bruno Gervais autograph and countless memories.

The I.C.E. Tour inflatables were up for some off-ice fun, while Sparky and the Ice Girls gave tours of the Islanders RV and helped with the barbequing outside.

Saturday's event will be repeated this morning at 10 am at Cantiague Park in Hicksville. The address of the rink is 480 West John Street.

Once the season starts, each rink will have a special game at the Coliseum dedicated to their rink. It will be an extraordinary night for the rinks involved and their participants.

We hope to see you out there tomorrow and at the Coliseum this fall!
