by Ali Krifchin / New York Islanders
After a hard fought and thrilling opening night at the Nassau Coliseum, the New York Islanders continued to ride the wave of excitement as they headed off to Adventureland Amusement Park in Farmingdale, New York.

More than one thousand fans flocked to the parks’ gates in order to catch a glimpse of some of their favorite players and engage in some family friendly fun. The players and coaching staff were positioned at different attractions throughout the amusement park. Fans decked in their Islander jerseys and tee shirts laid various articles of Islander’s regalia across tables to have the players autograph. Each fan had the opportunity to talk and take pictures with some of their favorite players.

Today’s event, sponsored by TD Bank, was established to help raise money and support for the Islanders Children’s Foundation. All funding for the foundation is raised through the fans and the community at events such as today. The New York Islanders take pride in their community and outreach programs. They look forward to seeing you at an event in the near future.

This unique event allowed thrill-seekers and hockey fans the ability to join the Islanders as they took in the beautiful weather on rollercoasters, carousels and other themed attractions across Adventureland. In addition, the players challenged youngsters to various carnival games such as bumper cars and ring toss. They were also seen testing their luck with the games in the arcade.

John Tavares and Dwayne Roloson were warmly welcomed to their new home on Long Island by their proud Islander fan base. They were commended on their outstanding play and contributions in last night’s home opener.

Next up for the Islanders…a week of practice then off to Ottawa to take on the Senators on Thursday.
