The New York Islanders have released their schedule for the 2010-11 season. On Saturday, October 9, the Islanders will open the season at home against the Dallas Stars. The opening face-off is set for 7 p.m.
Two days later, the Islanders’ cross-town rival, the New York Rangers will come to the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum for a rare 1 p.m. matinee game, the first of three match-ups on Long Island. The remaining two games are set for Thursday, December 2 and Thursday, March 31.
The last two Eastern Conference champions, the Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins, will each pay three visits to the Nassau Coliseum. The Islanders will take on Chris Pronger and the Flyers Saturday, November 6, Sunday, December 5 and Saturday, March 26. Sidney Crosby and the Penguins will make their way to the Nassau Coliseum on Wednesday, December 29, Saturday February 12 and Sunday, March 6.
Alex Ovechkin and the defending Presidents Trophy winning Washington Capitals will face-off against the Islanders twice at the Nassau Coliseum, Thursday, January 20 and Saturday, February 26.
The schedule also features two holiday games. The New Jersey Devils come to the Coliseum for the first time the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, November 26, for a 1 p.m. game. The day after Christmas, Sunday, December 26, the Montreal Canadiens visit the Coliseum with a 7 p.m. start time.
