As most of the world was sleeping at 3 a.m., five Islander Parts Authority Ice Girls were hearing their alarm clocks go off to send them on their way to the team's official practice facility, Ice Works where they met Larry Hoff from the WPIX Channel 11 news morning show.

The girls appeared this morning several different times with the morning's lessons culminating with a tutorial by team coach Linda Beach showing Hoff how to be an Ice Girl.  Throughout the morning, the girls were showing off some of their moves while at the same time, trying to teach Hoff how to skate.

“I had a lot of fun this morning skating with the girls and learning what it takes to become and Ice Girl,” Hoff said. “We were able to practice how to skate in pattern, shovel snow and even throw some t-shirts.”

"It was an early morning but it was well worth it," Beach said.  "We hope to have a good number of girls at this weekend's tryout so that we can have our best team yet."

The Parts Authority Ice Girls will hold auditions for the 2009-2010 season this Saturday, August 15th at the Islanders Ice Works in Syosset.  Registration will begin at 10 a.m. and auditions start at 11 a.m.
