Mark Streit shares a laugh with fans on Tuesday night at the Islanders Team Store in Hicksville.
Coming off one of the most thrilling weekends of his professional career, Mark Streit was welcomed home by hundreds of Islanders fans Tuesday night. More than 250 fans showed up to meet the Islanders defenseman at the Team Store at the Broadway Mall in Hicksville.

“I was surprised at how many people showed up,” said Streit, who played in his first All-Star Game Sunday night in Montreal. “It is a real good feeling to see all of the fans and how they support the Islanders.”

Fans began to lineup for the 7 pm event at 3:30 pm, anxious to meet and get an autograph from the first-ever Swiss All-Star. The appearance, which was covered by Channel 55, was packed with fans congratulating Streit on his All-Star selection and wishing him luck for the second half of the season.

“Mark is my favorite player,” said one young fan. “Both myself and my friend worked on making him a sign to take back to the rink with him. We hope he likes it.”

Streit signed autographs for everyone in attendance, signing everything from All-Star jerseys to photos and pucks. He also posed for pictures with many of the fans.

In addition to Streit, Sparky and the Ice Girls were also on hand, keeping everyone entertained while they waited on line.

The next Team Store signing will be on February 12th, when Blake Comeau and Tim Jackman will be at the Westfield Sunrise Mall in Massapequa. Click here for more details about the February 12th signing.
