Hillen a First Team All-American

by Staff Writer / New York Islanders
On Friday, Islanders defenseman Jack Hillen was given NCAA First Team All-American status by the members of the American Hockey Coaches Association. Hillen signed with the Islanders on April 1 and played in the team’s final two games, recording an assist and finishing +1.

The 22-year old Hillen completed four years at Colorado College and was named Defenseman of the Year in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association in 2007-08. In 41 games this season with Colorado College, the 5-11, 200-pound native of Minnesota had six goals and 31 assists for a Division I-leading 37 points among defensemen.

“Congratulations to Jack on his achievement at the college level,” said GM Garth Snow. “We liked what we saw in the two games he played with the Islanders, and look forward to seeing him further develop his game at the pro level next season.”
